As the sleeping Church slowly begins to awake from her slumber, she will need nourishment to regain her strength to stand in these last days. The Lord shook me last year and told me to get serious about seeking His face. He clearly showed me that the time was short and that I needed to abandon the construction of my temporary earthly kingdom that I was desperately trying to build.
My life has been one attempt after another at trying to build that temporary kingdom…but God has always had other plans for me. Those plans were always frustrated under suspicious circumstances and it wasn’t until last year that I understood why.
My Father in Heaven…He foiled them all and I am forever grateful.
You see, He loves me with a relentless love that won’t leave me alone to destroy myself because of my earthly desires and sinful appetites.
He just won’t have any of it.
So last year, as we approached the anniversary of September 11th, lightning struck close to me a few times, and if you have ever been close to a lightning strike, you know that it is a hair-raising experience to say the least.
Now, I didn’t have a vision like you hear people talk about, but I had what I call a ‘mind picture’. It is like a heavy-duty thought…that crashes into my mind and causes me to pause and think outside my normal box.
Maybe it is a vision…I don’t know. I imagine a vision from God to be something with burning bushes or flights of fancy where I am soaring through the heavens with an angel by my side, and this is NOT what happens to me at all.
Mine are subject to me thinking that I am imagining things and that I just might be a lunatic.
I don’t think that way anymore. I have come to accept that this is simply how God chooses to communicate with me in this moment called, “Life”.
Anyway, after the lightning incidents, I had a mind picture of me standing before God. I would like to tell you that I fell down as dead, but I didn’t. This is why I do not classify it as a vision because all those before me who have purported to see God could not stand to be in His presence.
I didn’t fall down.
In my mind picture, we just stood there in silence for a long, awkward moment…
Then He said, “What are you going to say to me when you stand before Me?”
You are talking about a guy who has almost died about a million times-a guy who stood under the towers on 911 when the second plane came crashing in-and survived.
I was a guy who looked death in the face on multiple occasions and walked away unscathed. I did not have a healthy fear of death at all…until I thought about what I was going to say to God when I stood before Him and gave an account of each and every thought, word and deed that I had committed.
That should be terrifying to all of us, even the faithfully devout.
All those years of wasting away in front of the television and chasing after worldly things came screaming back to me. I had known the Truth since I was a young boy and had lived the life of the Prodigal Son. I burned my time being programmed by the TV while constantly telling myself that I would get around to studying the Bible and get my life back on track mañana, mañana, mañana…
I realized that I was in grave danger of squandering my eternal inheritance and needed to change immediately.
And…WORTHY IS THE LAMB!!! God intervened and lit my up path with a clear set of directives for me to follow.
He told me to get up in the morning and read Psalms and Proverbs…
Before I explain that, I need to tell you one of the most important things that God has ever shown me.
The only asset that one truly possesses in their life is time, and God wants the first fruits of it…
He wants the first fruits of our time on an each and everyday daily basis.
There is not a good enough excuse in the world for anyone not to do this.
That meant no news, emails, videos, breakfast or anything else before I had my morning meeting with Him. This was difficult at first, but now…it ain’t no thing.
He did, however, graciously allow me to have coffee 🙂
It was a pretty quiet directive at first, but when I actually sat down to do it, He said to read 5 Psalms and 1 Proverb each and every day. I eventually figured out that if you read 5 Psalms and 1 Proverb every day you will be finished within one months time. There are 150 Psalms and 31 Proverbs. They match up almost perfectly with the day of the month almost every time.
It was also impressed upon me to read them out loud.
After the first month, I asked the Lord, “Now what?”, and He told me to keep going at it.
I have not missed a day since…and I can honestly tell you that they are ‘like new’ every time I read them. Early in the morning as I seek His face, they have become the breakfast food that I am now useless without. Food that nourishes me and gives me guidance and power to endure and run my race for the entire day.
That is this sinner’s key to a successful and amazing relationship with the Lord…and I have barely scratched the surface of what He has for me and what He has shown me to share with you. (Just wait till I show you Psalm 51)
I tell you all that to tell you this…
We are at the end. God is about to open the book of Revelation upon the whole earth and send His wrath upon an unbelieving and reprobate people.
I truly hope and pray that you will be ready.
I want to show you something that God revealed to me this morning. I was led to reread the Psalms and Proverbs from yesterday…and actually one from the day before as well.
Let’s start at Psalm 145:
1 I will extol thee, my God, O king; and I will bless thy name for ever and ever.
2 Every day will I bless thee; and I will praise thy name for ever and ever.
3 Great is the LORD, and greatly to be praised; and his greatness is unsearchable.
4 One generation shall praise thy works to another, and shall declare thy mighty acts.
5 I will speak of the glorious honour of thy majesty, and of thy wondrous works.
6 And men shall speak of the might of thy terrible acts: and I will declare thy greatness.
7 They shall abundantly utter the memory of thy great goodness, and shall sing of thy righteousness.
8 The LORD is gracious, and full of compassion; slow to anger, and of great mercy.
9The LORD is good to all: and his tender mercies are over all his works.
10 All thy works shall praise thee, O LORD; and thy saints shall bless thee.
11They shall speak of the glory of thy kingdom, and talk of thy power;
12 To make known to the sons of men his mighty acts, and the glorious majesty of his kingdom.
13 Thy kingdom is an everlasting kingdom, and thy dominion endureth throughout all generations.
14 The LORD upholdeth all that fall, and raiseth up all those that be bowed down.
15 The eyes of all wait upon thee; and thou givest them their meat in due season.
16 Thou openest thine hand, and satisfiest the desire of every living thing.
17 The LORD is righteous in all his ways, and holy in all his works.
18 The LORD is nigh unto all them that call upon him, to all that call upon him in truth.
19 He will fulfil the desire of them that fear him: he also will hear their cry, and will save them.
20 The LORD preserveth all them that love him: but all the wicked will he destroy.
21 My mouth shall speak the praise of the LORD: and let all flesh bless his holy name for ever and ever.
This is where we are at today. This is the time-frame that we now occupy.
We are still under a time of Grace, when God’s heart is that none should perish.
Are you living a lifestyle that reads like Psalm 145 on a daily basis?
Answer the following questions and you will know for certain:
- Are you praising God daily-Are you blessing His name constantly? Or are your words a little bit different than that? Are you using your words more often that God’s? If so, change that immediately.
- Are you telling your circle of influence about God and His Son, Jesus?
- Are you warning everyone about God’s coming wrath?
- Are you telling everyone about His mercy, His kingdom and His power?
I know, from my experience, that God will take you where He wants you to be as fast as you will let Him. The time for being ‘lukewarm’ has long since passed.
